To the majority it is the common term 'gschoolingu but to us college people it means a certain distinct branch of education. It is the foundation for teaching. It includes the fundamentals of General Psychology, Edu- cational Psychology, Theory and Methods of Teaching and History of Education. As Central is allowed to grant a three yearsteaching certificate to those who com- plete twelve hours of the education course, we could call it the home of future teachers. ucnticm September Q6+Education classes are no snap. Uhr Erpartmvnt 0Bf Aria Anil Svrirnrr Central College possesses a Literary Department of unexcelled worth. The scholastic curriculum embraces English, Mathematics, History, Language, and Science. In no degree are these departments stationary, every effort is constantly being made to perfect faculty, courses, and equipment, in order that the best possible material will be within the grasp of the students. Central's established ideals are the nucleus around which the college life moves. These ideals, to be practical, must be carried into the work of each student. As- similation of such principles as honesty, perseverance, and high aspirations cannot fail to give stimulus to study, and so the monotony of daily routine is lessened. It is in the Department of Arts and Science that these ideals have manifested them- selves most plainly and which forms the framework upo11 which may be built the l1lOI'C 0I'I13lIlC1ltZll StI'llCiLl1I'C of Cl12l1'Z1CtC1'. - llmgz at Biggs and Science March Q1-Diary dear, don't you get frightfully tired of my spells of solilo- quizing? But I do have them once in a while, and it really is fun to read back and see my particular mood for that day. The strangest thing happened today. I was industriously trying to study, but evidently had both ears open to everything that was going on around me for I overheard a town girl ask another if Central had a college of Arts and Sciences. and the other girl remarked, i'Of course, fll1l1'1l'J'lJff'll'- You know they teach Art here, and we are both in Botany and that's a Sciencef' I wonder if they really thought that such a state of affairs existed. At any rate thc girl could wisely spend a few more years in Central and perhaps learn that no matter what class she was in she was a Student of Arts and Sciences.
