The Central High School Band was first organized in the Fall of 1958 with about 30 members signing up for different instrtunents. The band progressed rapidly under the capable dir e ction of Mr. Robert Clark. Many improvements and changes were made as needed. All of the members enjoyed what they were doing and prove d it in the late Winter of 1961,when they won asuperior rating in the North Carolina State Band Contest. The g roup now has uniforms and has hopes of acquiring new instruments in the very near future. Having participated in many parades and concerts, the band has no doubts of doing so again. Let's all be proud of our band and give it all the support it deserves.
