Director of Choral Organizations. CENTRAL DAUPHIN Left to right: ART DEPARTMENT The art courses offered at Central Dauphin are of two types. Commercial Art, which prepares the student for en- tering into the advertising and decorating fields, and General Art, which is designed to fur- ther the interests of finer arts. MUSIC DEPARTMENT Two music courses are of- fered by the music depart- ment. Music as a major is taught to give the student the fundamentals and technical theories of music. Music Ap- preciation, a minor, is taught with the intent of creating an increased appreciation of the art of music. HOME ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT The Home Economics De- partment at Central Dauphin offers six elective courses..They are: Foods, Clothing, and Homemaking I, which are pre- requisites for the follow up courses of Homemaking Arts, Tailoring, and I-lomemaking II and III. All of the courses in- clude practica'l, real life ex- periences, including the Chil- dren's Nursery School. The expert touch FOOD PREPARATION The Food Preparation course is designed to educate students on both the theory ot preparation and the actual preparation of foods. Good Health habits, proficiency, and economics are taught. DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION Students who wish to en- ter the field ot sales are given the first hand experience in the Distributive Education course. The students operate the D.E. store and are also trained by holding afternoon iobs at local businesses. SPECIAL EDUCATION An excellent course is provided at C.D. for those stu- dents who require additional help. The course provides knowledge and instruction in good reading habits which they will use in their daily lite. DRIVER TRAINING All Juniors are required to take the Driver Training Course. The course teaches both the mechanics ot the auto- mobile and good driving hab- its.
