English is one of the most important subjects taught at Central Dauphin. It includes grammar, literature, vocabulary, journalism, and public- speaking. Tenth grade students have units on Silas Marner, Julius Caesar, concentration on principles of composition, news- paper and TV, and emphasized grammar. Eleventh grade English consists of grammar, vocabulary, and American Literature. Senior students, participating in either business or academic English, have grammar, vocabulary, and English Literature. Some of the plays and stories they read are those by Shakespeare, Dickens, and Chaucer.
