Varsity Seniors BILL HAMMELL FRED HOOVER HERB N.-XUSS The East High Panthers closed their '63-'64 season with an 8 and 22 record. Although this record might not appear extremely impressive, it is a great improvement over last year's 0 and 22 season. Many of those games lost were sacrificed only by a single or a few points. East this year obtained five victories in the Central Penn League, winning over Central Dauphin twice and York, John Harris, and Steelton - Highspire. The other three wins were accomplished in non - league competition. Kim Frankford, the high scorer of the Panthers in the '62 - '63 seasons, finished 11th in the Central Penn League total points standings this year. Kim, as well as all the other players from Nauss to Hammell to Gussy, made everyone at East extra proud. After only two years of basketball, the Panthers have really held their own against the various other school teams this year and will certainly do as well next year. Suffering from a lack of height, the Little Panthers fought a losing battle against their taller opponents. The Panthers began their season at York with a disappointing loss. However, in an exhibition game with Lower Dauphin, the boys moved into the winning column with a 49 - 48 victory. They also won their third game of the season by downing Susquehanna 49 - 39. But from there on the height disadvantage proved to be too much to conquer. The Panthers were winless until the final game of the season when they trounced rival Central Dauphin, 55 - 38.
