Capital Area Youth Forum Mrs. Stevenson, Tom Elliot, Zael Lutz, and Ben Slotznik have one of many preliminary discussion. The Capital Area Youth Forum is composed of outstanding students from area high schools who meet to discuss several pertinent problems of youth. This year's topics were concerned with the racial question, education, economy, and social responsi- bility. The Forum is based on the format of Congress. Each school sends several representatives fbased on the schoo1's populationj, two senators, and one cabinet member. Bob Miller and Penrose Hoover were elected as senators. Sam Faber was chosen as acting cabinet member because Carl Chronister, the previous cabinet member, was elected vice- president of the Forum. Penrose was also an alternate speaker, and George Roksandic was a member of the Public Relations Committee headed by Mr. Bolton. Mrs. Patricia Stevenson was the advisor of East's members. The Youth Forum is a new program, and the Harrisburg area is one of the few areas which have such a program. ROW ONE: V. Wolfe, P. Stevick, J. Lauver, A. Tarasi, G. ROW THREE: G. Roksandic, J. The Spanish Club, under the direction of Mrs, Raffensperger and Mrs. Murphy, worked in conjunction with the French Club to finance the foreign exchange program to be initiated in 1964- '65, One oftheir major money-raising projects was the all-school assembly, Triple Trouble, This assembly was directed by a club member, Penrose Hoover, An important event of the year for the Spanish Club was their Christmas party held for the children of the area. The club made the decorations and provided the entertainment. A special treat was the appearance of a Mexican Santa Claus. Near the end of the year the club held their annual Mexican dinner, at which all the food was prepared by the students themselves.
