Under the supervision of Miss Landis and Mr. Siipple, the FBLAfurthers the knowl- edge of its members in the field of business. Speakers were invited to the meetings to demonstrate the operation of modern machines. The speakers also talked tothe members about the qualifications and responsibilities of busi- ness workers. ln addition to the lectures, the FBLA went on field trips. Gne such trip was a visit to IBM. Because this was the first year for the club, the members drew up a constitution. They also sponsored a Sadie Hawkins Dance.

Now, get serious and debate! Debate Club The newly formed Debate Club became amember of the Central Pennsylvania Debate League this past year. In addition to the ten league debates, the club participated in exhibition matches. The Invitational Tournament, which was held in early February, brought great success to the team. Zael Lutz and Tom Elliott were undefeated in the affirmative debates. The team tied for first place in number of wins. The winner was then decided by the total number of points. East placed second, losing by only sixteen points. The club officers are Zael Lutz, Presidentg Tom Elliott, Vice-Presidentg Barbara Humphreys, Sec- retary-Treasurer. Q The Future Homemakers of America, advised by Mrs. Bonnie Hepler, engaged in various educa- tional activities throughout the school year. Also, the members ofthe club held dinners, entertained speakers, prepared Christmas cookies, candies, and gifts. They also went on tours in preparation for vocations in the Home Economics field and in the home. Appropriately enough, the girls sold cookbooks to finance their club.
