The marching band was led by Penrose Hoover, East's first drum major. Penny put the band through its paces and intricate maneuvers as he stepped briskly to East's Iwist lime wist and other marches. We now turn the spotlight to concert band which began with the conclusion of the football season. Here the band concentrated on the more serious music and spent much more time on dynamics and tone. They presented both a winter and spring concert.

Howard, Club members work on equipment in the AV room. The Audio Visual Aids Club, under the supervision of Mr. Lloyd Sheaffer, ably served East High in many capac- ities throughout the year. One of the major functions of the club was the oper- ation and maintenance. of the visual aids equipment used by the faculty. Other duties included operation of the sound and lighting equipment in the auditorium, and provision of the sound systems used at the school dances.
