SENIOR CLASS PRGPH ECY If we could look about fifteen or twenty years into the future with the help of a crystal ball, we might find people on the moon, atomic powered cars, and disposable clothing. But, something even more interesting might be the alumni of the senior class of '59. We could foresee just who had attained today's hopes tomorrow. And, the ones who were undecided in '59 would know just what they would be doing in '79. This so nds interesting. Shall we take a look? Here's Adele Jensen. It seems as though she's carried out her plans to marry Jerry Smith, and yes, she's even got a job as she planned to do. It looks as if it's some kind of office. It looks as though Adele is still saving her money for the day she can afford her fondest dream--a little black Volkswagen with nd leather interior! CAtomic POWGPGG, of COUTSBQ Switching channels, Paul Scott appears on our ball. Paul is working on a farm as he planned to do. But ghgt a farm! It's one of the largest in Iowa and entirely what Paul is doing doesn't look exactly like because all he's doing is calling hogs. Oh, in clearer. Their atomic powered hog caller atomic powered. work, either now 1t's coming broke down and Paul is replacing it. well, just goes to show machines can't take the place of man! Now the reception is rather dim. It seems as though we're going a long way to pick up the next person. Well, it looks like Sara Valentine! Yes, there's Sara in her own dance studio in, of all places, Hawaii. It seems as though the Hawaiiaans hired Sara to give them tap dancing lessons. Too bad we can't see the results of this. I grass skirts? wonder how they can tap dance in Changing channels again our crystal ball picks up another farm. This time it appears to be Ben Fox. And wouldn't you know it? There he is with a basketball and five boys. It looks as if he's farming--just as he planned. But he's kept his basketball up to par, all right. Harry Stine comes in next on our crystal ball. Harry is also living on a farm, near Minburn. But Harry is a bachelor! He appears to be very happy in his apparent state of seclusion because all his spare time is taken up with trying to develop an atomic powered tractor. really go places fast! Changing channels again, we pick up Mickey Hays. seems to be working in a body shop in California, just planned to do. He's not only just working in the body but he owns the whole place. all atomic powered, and you and drive them to get where Norma Stine comes into by the college in Ames to t well, we always knew Harry would Mickey as he shop, are don't even need to watch the road you're going. what next? But the cars he works on view next. Norma is now employed ink up new recipes and teach them h to budding Home Economists. One of her most famous is Straw- berry Sassaffras--a very secret recipe as yet! Now, adjusting the antenna on the ball, we tune in Dave Nagel. -Dave is a politician, CDemocrat of coursel. We can't tell exactly what he does, but he appears to argue quite a bit. But then, that's a characteristic that was formed back in High School in Mr. Huelskamp's class. Well, you can, say this for Dave, no matter what the subject is, if you ask Dave's opinion--he's got one! 52

Carol Scott is next in line. She appears to ke a home- maker. She's another one who seems to have benefited by the Home Ee. Class. Carol is living in Des Moines and working at Banker's Life, while maintaining her own aoartment. We next tune in David Merryman. Dave's wish to be a bookkeeper seems to have materialized, because there he is in Des Moines Savings and Loan Co. As we look in on Dave he is Juggling the books--literally, that is. Dave's secret ambition is to be a Juggler, apparently, and he gets in all the practice he can. Wanda Taylor appears next and it seems she has realized her ambition to become an English teacher. She is teaching in a Des Moines High School. She has been engaged for nine years to a fellow she met in college. lt seems her fiance is a refrigerator tester and he's been on the North Pole for the last seven years. The ball changes nuickly now from Wanda to Jim Crawley. Jim is also living in Des Moines where he is a carpenter. But on the side, as a hobby, he raises sheep. Then, he rents them out to people who can't sleep and the sleepless ones count the sheep. Sharon Stine is tuned in next. She's working with WHO-TV and plays background music for them, Cher ambition in her senior yearl. why, she's so good she's even been chosen Miss Back- ground Music. Wayne Hawbaker comes in focus next. He appears to be doing some sort of work with a newspaper. Wayne must have received his experience by working with the Qggstgg during his high school days. Wayne is a star reporter for the Qhlgggg Tgipgng. This is quite a jump from the uclass news-grade newsn days. Jim Thompson is next. Jim attended Iowa State College as he planned, but fell so in love with it that he's now on the Engineering Faculty. J1m's especially nice to Central Dallas graduates who attend Iowa State, and it's getting to be a regular tradition for graduating students from Central to attend Ames. Well, times haven't changed much! What's this? It looks like two people appearing. Well, it's Jim Bose and Tim Hlnchliff. They're partners in the engineering firm of Bose 5 Hinchliff. They just got back from South America where they had a contract for constructing rocket bases in Brazil. s well, Ron Glenn is last, but certainly not least. Ron does commercial art for an advertising agency on Madison Avenue. This firm handles the advertising for Wr1g1ey's Gum and Welch's Grape Juice. CQuite a combination! Well, we always knew Ronnie would make good. Theigre sending him to the mo n soon to get some ideas for ads. oks like onnie's a traveling man too. Well, this is our class of '59 in '79. Our crystal ball is worn out from all the work 1t's done, and so when we leave, we'll give it a can of glass wax to make it feel better. Does this sound like the '59 class twenty years from now? Wait and see! 53
