The first step in T.C.C.'s program of expansion is the construction on campus of two new dormitories, to be completed this year. The men's dormitory is to be called Seth North Hall, after the prominent New Britain lndustrialist who inagurated the New Britain Educational Fund. The capital provided by this fund was a primary factor in establishing T.C.C. in centrally-located New Britain, The women's dormitory is to be named in honor of Clarence Carroll, sixth principal of the Normal School. lt was under Carroll's leader- ship that emphasis was placed upon practice teaching, Normal School seniors of the time spending most of their final year in training schools provided by the New Britain School Board. it t T M it il i i -4,4 is-. When it is completed, Elihu Burritt Hall will be a library and classroom building, housing both the English and Social Science Departments. lt seems certain that New Britain's Learned Blacksmith would be pleased to know that the library building is to be named in his honor, for Burritt was influential in forming the New Britain Library Association. An outstanding example of a self-educated man, he was known to carry a Greek grammar under his hat, to study when the moment presented itself. if?-
