I TEACH EQS COLLEGE OF CONNECTICUT New Brifoin, Connecficuf Office of the President To the Class of 1956: Congratulations upon the completion of your preparation for one of the noblest of all professions, -- teaching! Just four years ago you entered the Teachers College of Connecticut to prepare for service to youth. You now go forth to minister to the needs of boys and girls in the classrooms of the state and nation. I hope that you do your work well for the future of our nation is in your hands. Our schools today face a great crisis. There are shortages of class- rooms and teachers for constantly increasing enrollments. Curricula must be revised in keeping with the rapid developments in the sciences and the humani- ties, Budgets for the financial support of the schools are increasing and will continue to increase in the years which lie ahead. These problems have created renewed interest of the citizens in our educational system. Never before have they shown greater concern about their schools and the teachers who staff them. Never before have they been willing to devote so much time and attention to improving school services everywhere. I am sure that parents will appreciate the service which you will now be called upon to render. I hope that your years at T. C. C. have been rich and rewardingg that you have formed friendships which will endure through the yearsg that your teachers have opened many doors to the wisdom of the ages for youg and that you are resolved to do your best in your chosen profession.
