mamma am! Class of '47-the class that saw it happen-T.C.C. in '43 nearly devoid of males, Ll small institution Calmost a woman's collegej. There were about three hundred of us here then. It wasn't long before everyone knew everyone else. Hanging slips and other signs of initiation disappeared, and we began to feel acquainted. Teachers College of Connecticut became T.C.C .... Governor Baldwin at our first All-College Banquet, the Ballad Singers at the assembly, the junior Prom with nautical air and pre-flight cadets, College Theater and The Lady Shows Her Medals , the Dorm Formal, the second graduation under the accelerated program, Mrs. R.'s arrival, Alice in Wonderland , the Buffet Dance at the Dorm, our first Eastern States Convention, Nine Girls , the dedication of the honor roll . . . the end of our first year at T.C.C. Cprecious memories! J, but now we are Sophomores. There were about 325 of us TCC-ites then. Our class held the whip hand come initia- tion. Oh, yes, there was the Halloween Party, the I.R.C. Conference, the junior Prom, the All-College Banquet, Dr. Dyer's leaving, reports from the home front, Fall Sports Day, the shortages of everything, including men, the arrival of Mr. Willhoit, the revival of chorus. The other things are remembered, too: basketball games, the Cheney Chorus, a grand ex- perience both ia music and in good fellowship, Spring Play Day, the barn dance, College Theater and 'fDear Lady Be Brave and Woman in the Freight Car , the first Spring concert, Miss Hendricks leaving . . . then our Sophomore year had slipped by. Maybe it was V-J Day, but there was a different feeling in the air when the crisp days of September arrived. The first few months passed swiftly enough with Fall Sports Day, the basketball games Qwith the best T.C.C. basketball team we'd ever seenb, the Star Dust dance, Christmas vacation and the end of an old era. We came back to a new T.C.C., a hundred vets at T.C.C., Major Fuller back from West Point, the Canadian-Exchange, even pounding and sawing behind the dorm, expansion, reconversion,,' the words of the year, married vets on campus, the Sophomore Hop, the crowning of the Sports Queen. April- 129 more men, total enrollment 526, stag smoker, Social Ac formal, Eastern States Con- ference, All-College Banquet, what to do with all the new students, new coaches arrived, a track team, a tennis team, a baseball team again, M.A.A. again, fun cheering at the games, My Sister Eileenf a smash hit. The junior Prom and it was our junior Prom, Sport Dances in the gym, T.C.C. reunion, new faculty members, the crowded lounge-you didn't know everyone anymore, the Spring Concert, Mr. Pratt's leaving, the Garrison's leaving, Mrs. Johnsons leaving. Wearily but gayly we went home, home from the new campus with the barracks and all the overcrowding. Was this the quiet place we knew? Then our Senior year rolled round. A thousand students at T.C.C.? Impossible! But it was far from impossible. We saw them all and they were as confused as we were. To the traditional three R's were added two more-Rockwell and Rockland. The tempo had speeded up, the dreamy little college was wide awake. Dashing to Rockwell for classes, four in a room at M.W.H., four miles for the boys to Rockland, the lounge jammed to capacity, new profs and more new profs, class from eight until nine, There was more than confusion. There were football games, Home-Coming Weekend with its pajama parade and skit night, Sport dances in the gym-at the dorm-at Rockland. The Social Ac Dance, the basketball games with a top flight T.C.C. team, The Nativity , the Dorm Snow-Ball , the Spring Social Ac Dance, the Sophomore Hop, the junior Prom, the Senior Ball, track, hockey, tennis, skiing, baseball, intra-mural sports, the drive for the expansion fund, a T.C.C. dance band and orchestra, the maddening whirl-surveyors, new buildings, new students every term, primaries, elections, campaigns, the thrill of hearing hundreds of voices blend in the Alma Mater during Senior Week. T.C.C. has grown up since we arrived, a little too quickly perhaps, but now it is time for us to leave. Our packing is done, our caps and gowns are on straight, nothing is left to four years, but this-our graduation- and precious memories we shall never give up.
