The Course of True Love Looking back into the past I find that he was rlght in every way The whole thing was my fault from the very beglnnmg I was aware of what I was getting myself mto but I was so much ln love that I took matters into my own hands I used to see him around the neighborhood with the older crowd He was such a handsome fellow that almost instantly he captured my heart Every time we passed on the street he would smile at me as though he knew how much I liked him Then one nlght fate played 1ts part we met at a party given by one of the popular qlrls of the neighborhood We danced and laughed together all night bo swiftly did the evening fly that I soon found we were walking home together Before I left him to say goodnight we made plans to see each other the following evening We went for a car ride the next n1qht One date led to arother and each one was more enjoyable than the other The more I saw him the more I could feel myself falling in love with him It was about our fourth or fifth evening together when he told me The words that were thrown at my heart came from the hps of the one I loved so much Words of love were spoken by him but they were of his love for someone else The story was revealed to me from the very IDEQIHHIIIQ with such sorrow that I felt numb all over He started by telling me of his foohsh pride and how it had robbed hlm of the g1rl he loved He never admitted his love to her he thought she knew for granted? She soon fell in love with someone else and could never return to him Now that lt IS too late he realizes his mistake After he hnlshed his tragic tale he took me home without another word Sleep failed me that night and I began thinking of his story It seemed to be a challenge to me to make him forget his hopeless love Then I began my campaign with much success for within reasonable time I had gamed his love Now I was completely happy not only because I had won but because I had ended his sorrows but I was soon to find out that I was wrong terribly wrong Again I was faced with the stabbmg of words which broke my heart soul and mmd I should have known that such a strong love could never be forgotten so easily lhe tears rolled down my cheeks as I could almost feel the vxorld dymg at my feet Now I realize that xt was all my fault I knew yes I knew that I was takmg a terrible chance Losing at love is sometimes a loss that can change your entire being But somehow I feel there is still some hope Someday he will face reahty and come back to me How long I will have to wait IS unknown to me but my faithful and understandmg heart will hve for him only Carole Glocker 16 . .
