BIOGRAPHIES OF ROOM 1 Florence Ashton —Is a newcomer to Calgary from Heskith. She is interested in sports and collecting pictures. Florence wants to be a school marm. Ian Brown —Ian is an active member of the Pi Omicron Frat. and plays on the House eLague and Interscholastic Basketball teams. He also enjoys riding and is a good skier. Sally Ann Carr —This blonde miss enjoys popular music and plays the piano. Sally enjoys sports and likes dogs. Dave Chevalier —A hot trumpet player and a member of the Eta Beta Pi Frat. and also Hi-Y. Dave spends his spare time writing for Mr. B. Jones. His humour povides entertainment for Room 1. Genevieve Clarke —This popular miss is Secretary of Room 1 . She holds as her ambition to be a hotel hostess. Gennie is interested in swimming and modern music. Likes interior decorating. Emma Cleasby —Emma is a very quiet girl but is liked by all. This young girl would like a position as an elevator girl and would prefer to start in a low building. Ruth Colpitts —A very friendly gal who loves dancing. Her ambition is to be a lab. technician and she enjoys Chemistry and English. Jerry Cox —Jerry aims to start a newspaper and run as its feature a comic strip “The Mask”. He enjoys life in general and is a gay student. Goldie Dworkin —Able President of the M.G.S. Sorority. Goldie likes people and loves to sleep (don’t we all!). Says she has no ambition as yet and she can cut a good rug. Frank Eckersley —Frank is a staff announcer of CFAC who greets us in the morning over Sunrise Serenade. He hopes to join Station KJRO, Seattle on August 1st. Good luck, Frank! Peggy Elder —Hails to us from Dawson Creek. Peggy has found her place on basketball team. She enjoys Math, subjects and hopes to be a pharmacist. She is a member of the Juan Aqua Zarca Sorority. Don Heimbecker —Don is one of the photographers for the Analecta. He likes classical music but holds a distinct opposite for swing. Finds Mem¬ ory Work for English a nuisance. Lauretta Hicks —Does her bit for the war by helping the St. John’s Ambulance Corps. She also finds time to enjoy sports, especially riding and she likes aeroplanes. Pearl Isenstein —Pearl is always seen with her cousin Florence, also in Room 1. Few know that Pearl is a fine pianist. Her ambition is to be a nurse. Margaret Keyes—Marg. is a very versatile person who has interests in science, math, and music. Has| already obtained her A.T.C.M. for piano. Her future is undecided. Norman Knowles —This lad of Room 1 enjoys a good game of hockey and is also interested in bowling. His favourite pastime seems to be home¬ work? Bud Larue —Bud is attending school on one of Stalin’s Five Year plans. He is a member of the Central Racing Club. Lie likes all sports and also Lana Turner. He is a future veterinarian. Roy Lincoln —Roy’s main, ambition is to keep out of school as much as possible. He is an excellent roller skater and is a member of the Gayety Skating Club. 30

IdndeltybaduateA, BIOGRAPHIES OF ROOM 1— Continued. Catherine Lucas —Comes from Armada, Alta.; likes to sew and sing. A grand combination! She is a member of our Bowling Club and hopes in the near future to be a seamstress. Georgina Lunn —Georg, is everybody ' s friend. She enjoys life im¬ mensely and is far from being serious minded. A Kappa Zi girl who wants to be a rabbit. Iris McFarlane —Comes to school in the mornings only and then only if she can’t avoid it. Iris, is an excellent skater and a member of the Victoria Speed Club. Tom MacGregor —Keeps the family tradition of being smart in French. Tom likes sleeping in spares and complains that teachers talk too much. Could be at that. Dave McKillop —A popular fellow, and a member of the I.S.C.F. Dave is known for his appropriate remarks at the right time. He enjoys shooting and always wears a smile. Duncan MacMillan —This quiet but yet popular member of Room 1 enjoys skating, bowling and table tennis, as well as (believe it or not!) home¬ work. He is a member of St. Andrew’s Young People’s. Will. Manolson —Willy is a member of the Kadimi Frat. and can strike a merry tune on his trumpet. Perhaps a future Harry James? Laurel Moore —Seems to be quiet and retiring, but out of school . . . glamour. She likes math, and would like to be a nurse. George Morrison — Joe’’ plays basketball for the Interscholastic Seniors and is captain of Senior House League. He is a member of the Delta Rho and President of Boys’ Hi-Y. Ambition—to get through French II. Helen Nesbit —-“Bunny”, who came to us from Toronto, is quite an ardent roller skater and spends some time at the Gayety? Loves to ski even if she sprains an ankle. Russell Powell —“Shortie” is an enthusiastic golfer and enjoys table tennis. He is captain of a bowling team and a member of the Eta Beta Pi. Frequently found at Helmer ' s “Bowling Alley”. Ann Purdie —A member of C.G.I.T. who holds the position of Group Secretary. Her ambition is to finish school and enter University. She en¬ joys skating. Norma Roberts —Norma is an active member of Hi-Y and the Chi Beta Rho Sorority. She enjoys roller skating and plays basketball. Gerry Setterington— Secretary of Students’ Council and a member of the Sigma Alpha Tau Sorority. She industriously promotes the good neigh¬ bour policy. Her ambition is to graduate from Central. Sharon Sprung —Is a stunner about the school who has loads of fun, and never a worry. She amuses everyone with her ideas and is an active member in both Hi-Y and the Kappa Zi. A member of the Analecta Staff. Florence Stein- Florence is very interested in music and enjoys skating. She is a member of the Emuna Sorority. Her policy is never a worry or never hurry. Shirley Strong —Came from Edmonton to attend “our house of learn¬ ing”. She has bright eyes and has no trouble in getting around. She wants to be a nurse. Evelyn Taylor —A sports enthusiast. She roller skates and is an ex¬ cellent rider. Also a member of our basketball team. Frequently seen at the Gayety. 31
