Page 24 THE LADIES' AUXILIARY OE CENTRAL COLLEGE The Ladies' Auxiliary had its beginning in l904 at Commencement time. .It was born in response to a need and has been busy meeting CentraI's needs for twenty-Hve years. The hrst President was Mrs. Harriet Keables, who for eleven years put her best energy and her strong determination into the work. The Hrst gift was equipment for the science departmentg then cases for the Randolph geological collec- tion. The Auxiliary bought the hrst furniture for Science Hall, reno- vated Old Central, refurnished Cotton llall, laid the campus walks, finished and furnished the new chapel room, bought furniture for the new dormitory parlor, Hnished the third floor of the dormitory, and finished the floors in New Central. In its twenty years of work, the Auxiliary has given to the college approximately twenty thousand dollars.
