What is published about the school informs, entertains, and influences the public's thinking and attitude toward the school. Therefore. it has been the main objective of the journalism class to present a positive and enlightening image of our school to the readers. The journalism staff has emphasized the reporting of news. although it also becomes involved in interpreting facts and opinions, based on news events. The Bison Beat may seek to influence or to entertain at times. but its major purpose is to provide factual information to its various publics. Throughout the year the staff has published nine issues of the Bison Beat. The paper was also involved with an exchange program which traded newspapers with fifteen surrounding area schools. Major activities included attending the Fall Con ference in Lincoln and touring newspaper plants 71 72 Drama Club Front: Karol Owens. 2nd Row: Mary King. ' The idea for the board was developed by the Taylor Publishing Company representative. The Ad board is a board with plaques on which the staff has lettered names of the businesses who are supporters of the school yearbook. A uniform fee is charged for the privilege of having a plaque on the board. The board is displayed in the school gymnasium, giving recognition to supporters as it is observed by those who are in attendance at basketball games, and during the wrestling season. The yearbook staff feels that this is a better way of giving recognition to supporters of the yearbook rather than through page-wise advertising in the book. It is hoped that our patrons will be patronized by the readers of the board. The yearbook staff is most grateful to the yearbook boosters, and thank them for their support.
