October was Homecoming and the Speech Department students worked hard on BISON-A-SCOPE, a movie theatre inside a giant Bison and showed old time comedy films. In November, the season's first production was presented. It was Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park starring Mary Campbell and Steve Zikmund. In December, the groups produced a Christmas play, Christmas Windows, for the children of Central City. Also that month, a Christmas Gag Gift Exchange Party was held for all members of the Drama Department. In February, we collected for the March of Dimes. The Senior Speech students directed and produced their own one-act plays, A Night in Room 208. The plays were performed in the CCHS Little Theater. It was an experi- ment in total theater. In March, we took part in the Central Ten Speech Contest in Crete and the District Contest in Broken Bow. Awards were brought home from both events. In April, we produced Alice in Wonderland for two enthusiastic, selI-out crowds. On May 14, a barbecue was held at Mr. Rains' following the spring initiation of twelve members. On May 16, the Speech Department held their annual Awards Banquet. This year the theme was TIKI MONA KAI. Best Acting awards were presented. Pardon My Second Scene was selected as the Best One-Act of the year; Barefoot in the Park was selected Best Three-Act. Following the dinner, there was a Hawaiian Blow-Out dance. Worsts awards were given and a hula dance contest was held at the high school. During commencement week, Dale Benson was awarded the high honor of Best Thespian.
