ffistory 0f the 611255 of I 966 In the fall of the year one thousand nine hundred and sixty-two, '71 green freshmen entered the door of Central City High School. We all ENJOYED our initiation by sucking sour lemons and saying our pieces on bended knee to the Seniors. After this little ordeal, we were officially members of the school. Our class officers for the year were Kent Booth, president; Stan Ferris. vice president; Nancy Hamrnons, secretary; and Alan McHargue, treasurer. We were represented in the student council by Chen Eoff and Tom Wagner. Our class sponsors were Mr. Mark Crandell, Mr. William McKean, and Mr. Ron Bickford. We gained one new student, Jean Dettman, during the year and at the end of the year we dropped the membership of Margaret Flesch, Ronald Hotchkiss, Patrick McMahon, Sharon Pogue, LeAnn Meineeke, and Pamela Bray. We ended the year with a picnic at Hord's Lake. As soft sophomores we gained JoAnn Steinke. For money in our treasury, we eager softies worked hard selling candy. Our class officers were Randy Carlson, president; Alan McHargue, vice president; Bill Marsh, secretary; and- Bob Harrie, treasurer. We were represented by Tom Wagner, Cheri Eoff, and Kent Booth in the Student Council. Our worthy advisors for the year were Mr. Richard Temme and Mr. John Rogers. During the year we gained back the membership of Pamela Bray, but at the same time we 105t that of Carolyn Lovejoy, Tom Stueben and Jack Mundt. The Operetta for that year was The King and I and many of our class members took part. In ending our year we lost Jerry Gibson, Mary Pate, Arlene Whitney, and Richard Wojtalewicz. As genius juniors, we added Larry Tunks, Robert McDonald, Twila Brokaw, and Dennis O'Nele to our class roll. We also regained LeAnn Meinecke's membership during the year. We chose our class rings and were nearly on top of the world when we received them. Our class officers were Kathy Good, president; Stan Ferris, vice president; Gail Gregg, secretary; and Alan McHargue, treasurer. Cheri Eoff, Mike Fauquier, Mona Held, and Tom Wagner, represented us in the Student Council. As juniors we put on a three-act play, Time Out for Ginger. The Operetta for the year was the Sound of Music, and many juniors took part in it. Mr. Richard Temme and Miss Judith Owens led the class through the year as sponsors. The highlight of the year was the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. The theme for the big dance was In the Misty Moonlight. The Steve Joynt Combo from Crete helped in providing entertain- ment for the evening. As the year ended we were all happy to say only one more year of high school left. We ended our Junior year with the loss of Carol MarkWorth, James Stuart, Robert McDonald, and Janet Neilsen. In starting out as mighty seniors we gained two new members, Rita McLean and Kenneth Hilder. As the year went along we lost Sally Harmon, Gary Michalski, and Kenneth Hildet. The class officers were Kathy Good, president; Randy Carlson, vice president; Nancy Hammons, secretary; and Dick Weg- ner, treasurer. The student council was represented by five seniors, Alan McHargue, Mike Fauquier, Mona Held, Linda Glatter, and Tom Wagner. Our sponsors for the year were Miss Judith Owens and Mr. Edgar Gifford. As the year progressed, we were a hard working group of seniors in money making. One of our many projects was the Senior Class Play. We put on two one-act plays. One a comedy, Where's That Report Card? and the other a mystery, The Lottery. At dawn on the sixth day of May, 1966, the Seniors headed for Omaha on Senior's Day. We visited many wonderful places and did some shop- ping. We were treated to a delicious dinner by Brandeis and we enjoyed the evening meal at Fireside. We ended the day by attending the show Doctor Zhivago at the Cooper '70 theater. To top the year off in style, the seniors were treated to a beautiful prom by the Juniors. The theme was Blue Hawaii and the music for dancing was provided by Shorty Avery and the Swingsters. The Ray Conniff Singers directed by Mr. Tom Cunningham entertained the group. Baccalaureate was held May 22 with Rev. Bernard Niekerk giving the address. The great day of Commencement came on May 24, 1966. Many tears'were shed and many smiles broadened as we received our diplomas and our great days at Central City High School ended.
