In this they seek to understand Jesus, to share his love for all people, and to grow in the knowledge and love of God. They attempt to grow as persons, to grow so that they feel a friendship for people all over the world, so that they may know and help these people. The organization has as its symbol the triangle and globe. The triangle represents you - you growing as a person - you growing in friendship with people of all races, religions, and nation.- alities - you growing in knowledge and love of God. The globe represents the international scope of the YWCA and the need for world fellowship so that they may come to realize the ideal of peace on earth, good will toward men. Any girl in high school may join Y-teens. Dues are 50 cents a semester. This year the Y-teens took part in a variety of activities. In September they had a get acquainted picnic for all members interested in Y-teens. In October they had an initiation ceremony for all new mem- bers, in November a panel discussion on teen-age problems, in December a caroling party. They packed boxes of cookies and took them to the hospital and rest homes in town. At the January meeting the organization observed World Fellowship by watching slides of Mrs. Butt's trip to Europe. The Valentine Dance was in February. In Match all of the girls met at the beauty shop for a demonstration of hair styling and make up. At the April meeting they had a talent program withttalent from the girls and boys in high school. Last but not least, in May the group attended a May breakfast where they elected the new officers. Karen Judah, as publicity mad Cindy Cellar, playing against a background of her mother, Louise Erickson, and would be show gals, Marilyn Holtorf, Elaine Brahman, Joanne Broom, Carol McClurg, and Mary Kuhlmann, brought fever pitch excitement which called for reporters, policemen, and even a hospital orderly in the persons of Gwen Everett, Galynn Ferris, Charles Perkins, Ralph Ribble, Paul Bonness, Tom Larsen, and Chad Newby. Rex Weller as a playwright carried on a romance with his secretary, Judy Butt, which was not so pronounced as the romance which the housemaid, Dorla Full- ington, struck up with Eddsie, the future college boy, Ed Kyes. The class proved again the E P S News Syndicate's report: Publicity Mad a delightfully prepos- terous rambunctious romp that belongs in the Comedy Hall of Fame. e't kt x m'wwmaa The Class of '63 presented a program of literary merit on Nov. 10 and 11, 1961. William Dean Howells' classic farce, THE MOUSE TRAP, presented each evening was a realistic bit of fun, taking a poke at courageous women who need the right of suffrage and yet are afraid of a mouse. Kate Douglas Wiggins' THE BIRDS CHRISTMAS CAROL presented on Nov. 10, showed the compassion of a crippled girl for the Ruggles in the rear, moving from comedy to pathos in a three act range from the mirth of the poverty- stricken Ruggles preparing for Christmas dinner to the death angel's appearance with the angelic host to claim little Carol Bird's lifeless body. On Nov. 11, Mark Twain's classic, HUCKLEBERRY FINN, became realistically alive once again as the antics of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer outstripped the trickery of the rapscallion Duke and King. More than 75070 of the Class of '63 appeared on the stage and Mr. Zickek, the director, spoke highly of the dramatic as well as the literary merit of the shows. Merlene Good as Carol Bird. Judy Nitzel as Mrs. Ruggles, and Joan Kelley as Mrs. Somers were good examples of leads who were flanked by able casts. va-wu e-w-Vr-r wt. t . 3H. t T W 'Ilv ', . U 9 , ... P: . .4.
