These two girls were portrayed by Joanne Broom and Karen Judah. Ladd Reeves, the anxious father, and Carol Bolling, the concerned aunt, try to stabilize the girls at home and abroad. Galynn Ferris and Tom Larsen happened to be the husbands secured. Carol Channing and Mari- lyn Monroe played leading roles in this production on Broadway and in the movies. The play was ex- ceptionally well received in the local community. 23

M31 -44.??? w . gram gmw flit! ,Cilm GREEN GROW THE LILACS, the famous classic stage play written by Lynn Riggs, and then converted by Rodgers and Hammerstein into the popular OKLAHOMA, was staged by the Class of '61 on No- vember 11 and 12. Tom Moates, starring as Curley McClain, and Hollie Glause, as Laurey Williams, were flanked with an able cast which consisted of the entire senior class. Gwynn Phares, as Aunt Eller Murphy; Christine Powell, as Ado Annie Carnes; Dean Hanke, as Jeeter Fry; and Dick Holmes, as the Peddler, deserve special mention.
