A- A .h l a a Baccalaureate service for the Senior Class of 1960 was held May 22, 1960, in the School Auditori- um. The address was given by Rev. Lindley Cook; Rev. William Pfau, presented the invocation and benediction. The program also included a selection by the clarinet choir. On Thursday evening, May 26, 1960, Commencement exercises were held for sixty-four graduat- ing seniors. The address was given by Dr. Knute O. Broady from the University of Nebraska. Diplomas were awarded by Donald McHargue, president of the Board of Education. Those receiving special awards were: Diana Parker, Valedictorian. Farmer's National Bank and Regents' Alternate; Richard Mattson, Salutatorian, Union Pacific 4-H Scholarship, Sears-Roebuck Scholarship, and Regents' Alternate; Sally Ashelford, University of Nebraska Regents' Winner; Marilyn Wieck, Regents' Alternate and Winner, B. P. W. Scholarship; John Demel, Regents' Alternate, National Merit Scholarship Corporation Finalist; Larry Brown. Union Pacific Railroad Scholarship, Sears-Roebuck Alternate; Arthur Erb, Nebraska Wes- leyan University Alumni Scholarship. Regents' Alternate; Larry Hald, Nebraska Wesleyan University Alumni Scholarship; Dorsey Bodeman, State Teachers' College; John Cutler. Regents' Alternate; Allen McClurg, Regents' Alternate; Donald Reimer, Regents' Alternate; Karen Schroeder, Regents' Alternate; Gayle Carman, B.P.W. Scholarship; Maraldine Nelson, B.P.W. C3012 cerf Band is offered as a democratic institution maintained for the purpose of teaching youthful citizens how to live as responsible members of the community, not only during school years, but also after they have finished school. Any student of the Central City Schools who plays a band instrument well enough to qualify and pass the tests set up by the instructor may become a member of the band.
