He filled a respon- sible position as stenographer with the H. H. Frank- lin Manufacturing 'Company until November, 1910, when he was appointed stenographer in the Land Office at Washington at a salary of 561,020 a ,yearn On August 1, 1912, he was transferred to the Panama service at a salary of 91,500 With extra work he now earns 32,400 a year.
