The seniors were asked to answer a few questions about their high school years and the future. We received some very interesting replies. When asked about their nicest memory from Central, NOELLE MONNOT recalled the first day of school freshman year. LAURA MILLER felt Freshman Day of Recollection started us off in a good way, and BRIAN LIPPERT enjoyed Aquinas Week 1982. ROMERO LLAMAS treasures all the people and all the unbelievable things they’ll do to get a laugh. All the new and close friends were important for MICHELLE D ANGELO and JOHN LEONARD. DANIELA LUNGOCIU enjoyed meeting different people and discovering how they were inside. ANN SMITH loves the friends she made over the past four years. Senior Service and delivering food baskets were good experiences for KELLY BROOKS. Senior re-treats produced many special memories for the entire class. TONY BRUNNER remembers Camp NEOSA best. Telling stories around the fire on retreat number four was special for FRANK FERRANTE, and TOM KINGSBURY was glad to meet Shelley Adolph on the sixth retreat. Being in the play “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was most important to PAM POPA, and PATTY PROEBSTLE enjoyed the production of “Godspell.” AUDREY HOLTGREIVE’s nicest memory is of Lisa Hightower singing at the Christmas pagent. Winning the Talent Show three years in a row sticks in the mind of JOHN GARTON. KIRSTIN STEIGER will never forget the support she received while recovering from her accident. KIM NODO fondly remembers Luiz Guimaraes. Sports were also important to the seniors. Winning the State “AA Golf championship is PETE DEVITO’s favorite memory. ROGER DUFFY liked the 1986 football season, and TOM McBRIDE enjoyed the State Playoffs. In the past four years, many funny 130 things have happened at Central. LEANN HARPER enjoyed Mr. Hud-nall’s slides of Europe. This year’s Christmas assembly supplied many laughs. TOM ORCUTT appreciated Mr. Blaumeiser’s act in the “Twelve Days of Christmas,” and HEATHER MAITE liked “Grandma Got Runover By a Reindeer.” JOHN SCHEETZ found the way people dress up for rallies humorous. Doug Vogley’s Wrestle Mania act was the funniest thing BRET GAFF saw. DAVE ER-TLE also got a kick when Doug dressed like a girl, and all the guys were chasing him. DAVE BOERNER giggled at Brian Mulroy’s pigtails. Clothing mishaps were the center of much attentio i. JOEL HEMBREE thought it was funny when Chuck Peters wore his shirt inside out, and ANNA HAYMAKER was amused when Monica Pfeiffer had on two different shoes. FRANK FRIEDMAN laughed during period four’s grass stain contest. Getting in a “minor” car accident while riding with Beth Rem-linger was the funniest thing to JENNIFER ROBERTS. MICHELLE KALKMAN found it humorous when Eric DeVito off his chair and into a closet. PETE GRANCHI got a kick out of accidentally pushing Matt Basso into the fire alarm. While playing Miami Vice in the parking lot, Pam Truax tripped and did a split. PEGGY BA- TISTA found this funny. AKEMI MATSUHASHI was amused when two boys walked into the library’s glass door. MIKE MARTELL enjoyed watching Fr. Miller getting thrown in the lake. During the past four years, everbody was embarrassed at least once. ANNE GILL remembers getting her desk tipped over during a marker fight with Greg Blate, and RONNIE SCHEETZ fell on the floor when his desk got tilted. In Algebra II, JOE POPA was asleep and fell out of his desk. TODD KIEFER was embarrassed when the janitor woke him up in Study Hall after 2:15. An entire table collapsed when MIKE KLINGAMAN sat on it. If only people would learn to walk, BRENDA LIZOTTE wouldn’t have fallen down the stairs, and ANNE HALEY would not have tripped in front of several freshmen. While entering the stadium, MIKE SHAUB was embarrassed because he missed a step and rolled over his drum. TOM CASEY twisted his ankle while attempting to touch the basketball rim. He ended up in a cast for three weeks, but that’s nothing. Just ask DAN DAHLGREN, who broke his foot three times and spent what seemed like his entire senior year on crutches. JENNIFER GORKOS was almost too afraid to give blood, and CHRIS YINGLING doesn’t like to admit that he got sick when they pricked his finger. ANTHONY MALACAMAN passed out during junior theology class. JOE AUDI reddens when speaking of his skiing accident. DAVE MEIER was shocked to find he made the film of the girl’s basketball game after pulling a stupid stunt. CHRIS MANOLAKIS had some trouble with the computer when it wouldn’t stop printing. JIM LAMBERJACK was embarrassed when he got over one hundred percent on on his English test. On her seventeenth birthday, TERESA KEANE had to carry around a dozen helium balloons. When TRISH LUNDQUIST was a freshman, she was late because some seniors wouldn’t let her in her locker. LINDA LATTAVO did not enjoy when Mr. Lcnz put L.I.D., standing for Linda’s in dress-code, on the board and kept a running tally. During a wrestling match, CRAIG REESE wore his singlet inside out. JOHN WAGNER had some difficulty playing T.A.G. when he mistook Pete DeVito’s younger brother for his target. JEFF ZWICK was embarrassed when his canoe tipped in the middle of Lake NEOSA. Nicknames develop for many different reasons. Wouldn’t you like to hear the stories behind some of these? DAVID JOHNSTONE is referred to as “Thope.” “Bubba” is the synonym for CHRIS MARKOCH, and PAUL SHADLE is commonly called “Shaffer.” Everyone knows PAUL KEFFLER is “Fred,” and JEFF ROSSETTI is the notorious Joe Thrash.” MIKE HERDLICK found himself being called “Mr. Cranberry.” “Slick” was the nickname chosen for MATT BYHAM. MARK BONNOT and Farmboy” are similiar terms. BRIAN MULROY became famous under the pen name “Sly.” “Campbell’s Soup Kid” is a reference to SUE LYON. PAT McGONAGLE was always “Hoogs.” JOHN MILLER grew infamous under the name “Killer.” “Lupe” was the nickname given LAURA WOLFINGER. Alterations of actual names brought about many titles. PAM TRUAX was “Little Tru,” and KURT SHUBERT was “Shubie.” DEBBIE MARCOVECHIO was referred to as “Little Debbie Snack Cake.” Nobody knew “Jay” KRACKER’s name was really JENNIFER. JULIANNE SPINO was of-tenly called “JuJu.” TOM ADAMS NY BELDEN to “DB HI.” During our time at Central, we all prepared for the years ahead. Everyone seemed to have different outlooks on their future. SHORI Sister Angela Hough is retiring after a full teaching career at the elementary, high school and college levels. Sister earned her Master’s Degree at Peabody College, now part of Vanderbilt University. Sister spent four years In post-graduate study and in teaching at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Sister Angela spent most of her career at St. John’s College in Cleveland, where in addition to teaching classes she also served as the Director of Liberal Education, until the school’s closing in 1975 because of financial exigency. During this time. Sister also taught courses at Siena College in Memphis, and at Loyola University in New Orleans. Central has been Sister Angela’s home for the past eleven years, during which time she has taught Honors English and courses ranging from Advanced Writing to Shakespeare. Sister is looking forward to spending more time researching and writing on the history and literature of Ireland and of the English Renaissance. Best Wishes, Sister Angela. Mr. Gulielmo A. Shori is retiring this year after seven successful years at Central. He has taught a total of forty years at other schools including Marlington, McKinley, and Canton South. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Kent State University. He has taught technical drawing, wood working, metal working, and machine shop. Most students know him as the Director of Parking. Just this year, Mr. Shori celebrated his fortieth wedding anniversary with his long-suffering wife, Rosie. He has three sons, one daughter, and one grand-daughter. He is active at his church, St. Anthony’s, and other organizations such as the Unique Club of Stark County, the Stark County Teachers’ Association, and is on the Italian Central Committee.
