Stu- dents participated in days of recol- lection and in retreats. The Senior Service Program aided the commu- nity in many areas. The students also pursued spiritual growth in the school masses throughout the year and in the many theology classes of- fered at Central. Victory was not an unusual ex- perience at Central this year. Many new records and achieve- ments occurred as a result of all the hard work and dedica- tion put in by both the players and coaches. The teams were supported along the way to victory by the great enthusi- asm shown by the fans. V 1 c t o r y Crusaders In Pursuit Of Crusaders pursued knowledge in honors courses in math, science and English. For the first time, two Central students attend- ed Presidential Classroom, a week-long study of government in Washington, D. C. The addition of new computers allowed for the expansion of Central's computer curriculum. Also, two Crusaders were rec- ognized as National Merit semi-finalists. 6 Crusaders In Pursuit Of S P i r • i t Crusaders pursued spirit in school rallies and at athletic events. Central's spirit extends into every aspect of school life. WE ARE CENTRAL! at a — - 2 i ’ JS % v p |M 1 2 Senior Retreat This year’s Senior retreats were held at Camp NEOSA. He also served in full-time po- sitions in some of the area's largest churches. Central has been fortu- nate to have been associated with such a kind, well-known and respect- ed gentleman for so many years. We will miss Mr. Hodel and his contribu- tions to so many. In Autumn, the class of 1985 came to Central with one major thought in mind: “This is our senior year! The 1984-85 school year could be described as fun and exciting but often were the times when we just felt like getting school over with and moving on to college. Now. however, as we look back and reminisce, we know that we're going to miss Central: the good times and the bad. Freshman year was a new and almost frightening experience. We came with hopes that we would find our classes and not become entangled in any senior pranks. Mike Czech was elected class president. Journey was the big name in music. General Hospital was the soap of the year, and Central's cheerleaders took third at Nationals. We danced at the Barn and screamed at Cedar Point. It was the year we broke old and began new friendships to last during the high school years. Sophomore year we felt a little more confident. Some friendships had been established, others were there to be made. Our sophomore class president was Blake Fearon. Fads were running in two directions: preppy or punk. We were beginning to feel like a part of Central. Junior year brought our class a little closer. Stan Manolakis was our president. Van Halen. Flashdance. and break dancing were the fads at the time. Brian Kalbas won state in tennis singles. Two members of our class were in Sweden: Frank James and Subelle Kammer. Godspell was the school play. This and other activities helped bring out the spirit of the class of '85 to lead us into se- nior year. Retreats started this year off with a bang. Cliques were broken and we became friends with people we never knew before. The Class of '85 actually knew the Class of '85. The faculty commented on the spirit of our retreats as being one of the best ever. They even made it possible to have an extra day of recollection for seniors. The golf team won state this year. The clothing styles went every which way but loose. CI2 took over the music world. Dancing moved into free styles. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was a success as Central’s school play. Central came alive with the Class of '85. All of these memories are worth treasuring. Never again will we experience high school life. Hopefully all of us can use the knowledge we have gained these past four years to make new memories and reach our goals. 3 • • C Tl 3 _ - .. a 3 Pu,4ua aaaa ®®3, • • _ ................. • • • • • • • • • • • • ....................... . .................................... ......
