DEARDEN, S.T.D., as Bishop of the diocese ol Pittsburgh has been unstinting in his interest in all that contributes to the spiritual welfare of the faithful of the diocese. As seventh Bishop of the diocese of Pittsburgh, His Excellency has been unceasingly solicitous, not only for our spiritual development, but also for the physicial improvement of our school. l 6' As former pastor of St. Maurice's and present pastor of Sacred Heart, THE MOST REVEREND COLEMAN F. CARROLL, D.D., has a very real interest in everything that concerns Central Catholic. In his two years as Auxiliary Bishop, His Excellency already has made himself an integral part of the Catholic activities of the diocese of Pittsburgh. THE VERY REVEREND THOMAS J. QUIGLEY, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools, has been a leader in administrative circles of education, not only in the Pittsburgh area, but on a national level. Monsignor Quigley's leadership and solicitude for progress of education in the diocese of Pittsburgh has resulted in a consistent and continued program designed to make the Pittsburgh diocesan schools ex- emplary of the ideals of Christian education.

0 Eta nal A nceslrq BROTHER G. VINCENT, Principal, has now completed his third year as Principal of Pittsburgh's largest dioceasan high school. Having spent three years of our high school under the aegis of Brother Vincent, we have witnessed the strengthening of the school's disciplinary policies, the re-emphasizing of academic requirements, and the consistent interest in the physical development of the school. 1-my 4 ,, gr-sf.,,,,,.7 awww'-fizf FATHER JOHN B. McDOWELL, Ph.D., one of our own graduates and the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, has, we feel, an interest in the least, as well as the most important, undertak- ing of Central Catholic. In his three years as Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Father McDowell, by his pleasant, understanding, sincere, and constant watchfulness has made himself an integral part of our associations with Central. The important position of Student Counselor has been added this year to the regular duties of our Vice Principal, BROTHER FREDERICK JOHN. Besides his work as administrator of guidance activities throughout the school, Brother John has continued his work of solving the intricacies of the master roster, issuing excuse slips and leave class permits, and moderating the school Student Council. lg
