THE FRESH E The school year of 1949 opened in September with the customary group of freshmen, commenc' ing their studies at Central. Because this is their hrst year at Central, the freshmen are somewhat perplexed at the regular routine of things and new studies to master' -such as algebra and Latin It does not take long to acquire the various habits and trends of the upperclassmen that are now practiced hy these freshmen through the ohservance of traditional rules. Miss Mary Jane Beggy, the school librarian, instructs a group of freshmen in the care and dating of books. Miss Bc-ggy's guidance has aided many students with their literary problems! The freshmen class and their English instructor, Brother Fidelis Andrew, run through a few important points of grammar and English idiom. Two doubtful freshmen attempt to locate European capi- tals while Brother Philip and the rest of the class look on with skeptical eyes. The 1950 Frosh are sure to learn their algebra under the careful supervision of Brother Donation, Central's ex- change Brother from the Province of Quebec, Canada. JA-3.
