You probably will always remember the day of your graduation from Central. It marks the successful completion of your high school days and points to the beginning of a new way of life. One cannot say what the future holds for you. The future is in God's hands. I Wish to leave this thought with you: The fundamental problem of life for all of us is to harmonize our Wills with the will of God. The strongest and most victorious figure in history is Christg but among all men who have lived none ever so completely submitted his will to the will of the Father. Bear in mind that man's peace can come only when everything within himself is working harmoniously according to that order and purpose set up in him by his Maker. And may Mary, our Heavenly Mother, make us more and more conformable to Iesus, our divine Model. .yew Q2'e.vzfkv5 Principal CENTRAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHO FACULTY BRO. The joy of achievement that the Seniors naturally feel at the time of graduation is tempered by a feeling of regret, a genuine regret that they are leaving behind them a group of friends who still have one, two or three years to complete their high school careers. Many of you have fought on the same teams with us, taken courses with us, shared our spiritual and social activities. We feel, now that we are graduating, our happy associations will be made less frequent, and in many instances severed. The years we have spent in high school seemed, at times, dull, un- nepessary, perhaps even a waste of time. But we did not quit, we stayed in school. We are happy now that we did not give up, that we finished our high school years. Now that we are graduating there is a feeling of well-being, a feeling of accomplishment in our hearts. We hope that your hearts will beat with the same feeling the day of your graduation. So let us thank you again for the years we have spent with you, and for the pleasant memories that will stay with us always. Perhaps you will think our words a trifle foolish, but on the day of your own gradua- tion, you will experience these same mixed sentiments. Good-bye and may God and His Virgin Mother bless you. April 14, I5 and 16. Flying leather was a common sight those three nights, as T. K. O.'s and close decisions marked the event. The pugilists were placed in three divisions: the open division, the novice division, and the sub-novice division, comprising 44 fighters in all. Of these 44 boxers, 19 were crowned champions, 6 oi them being in the open division, 3 of them in the novice, and 10 in the sub-novice. The club members received ample opportunity to make use of the fine equipment owned by the club. As one of its activities, the best efforts of the club members were put on display in the Chemistry Lecture Room each week. ' A lot of the success of any annual depends upon the pictures acquired and many special thanks must be extended to Brother Gutting, Bnb McAteer and Bob Knaus for their efforts in this regard. .09-T l. 64 THE PIONEER-1948 'l1P'1HiUI1PPI' rum A . , Y .MWA V . 510 6 QF BEL V . BACK ROW: Ed Bachesta, Staff Artist, Al Dannehold, Sports: Anthony Ianik, Typistg Dick Ryan, Assistant Sports Editor. FD The Senior Staff managed the school paper for the first half of the year, then the paper was turned over to the underclassmen so they could become familiar with its operations. The Senior Staff had Bill Busekrus as Editor-in-Chief. Tony Ianik and Harry White were in charge of the Formatist's jobs. Ed Bachesta was the capable staff-artist, and Alvin Dannehold, Dick Ryan, Norm Roewe, and Father O'Neil1, the moderator, were the columnists. Ierry Hartlein had charge of mim- eographing the Pioneer for the entire year under both the Senior and Iunior staffs. McAteer came in handy when the paper was ready for stapling. Most of the Senior Staff had experience from last year and thus it was no task to get the paper back into circulation after the commencement of school. This year's staff undertook to enlarge the paper by the addition of a page written and submitted by the students of St. Teresa's Academy. The masterpiece edited by the Staff was its Christmas Edition which was printed in the holiday colors of red and green. 66 THEPIONEER-1948 CHEERLEADERS YL?
