A in 1. A coach s dreamll Head Coach Jack Castlgnola and assistant Coach Tony Difiore Falcon mentors for the past six years can now realize their dream an undeafeated season Led by the two fine co captains speedy Tom Labeau and burly Jack Wilkie the feared Falcon eleven outclassed class A teams from both the Detroit and Toledo areas ln posting an 8 0 season record the Falcons scored victories ranging from a close 26 20 sneaker over Rogers to an 83 0 rout of Ida Due praise should be given to the fine coaching staff as well as to the entire squad for the post season honor as the Detroit Times Number One Class B Eleven Here s a rundown of the season A perfect night for football opened the season for the Falcons against highly tauted Flat Rock Led by senior end Mark Laboe with two T D s and three interceptions the Falcon eleven trounced the Rams 32 6 Moving to Inkster the following week the C C followers were delighted as the running of Dennis Assenmacher and the defensive work of Tom LaBeau and .lack Wilkie downed the Vikings 47 6 High after the lnkster win the Falcons were preparing for their scrap with the 58 champs of the River Valley League, Ida. There was no cause for worry though as the bench express rolled over helpless Ida 83-O. With the easier games in the schedule completed, the Falcons iourneyed to South Lyons where the overpowering runs of big Jim Volpi and sophomore Ron Labeau outlasted the immense South Lyon front wall for a 26:0 Falcon victory. After crippling iniuries during the previous week to two front line men, Mark Laboe and Sebastisn Verhoeven, the Falcon eleven trudged toward Toledo, Ohio, and Rogers High. Outweighed 30 pwnds per man the Falcons held on for a 26-20 victory. Leading at halftime 20-6 due to the running of elusive Denny Assenmacher and smashing of Jim Volpi, the C.C. eleven had to withstand a Rogers threat. The score having been tied at 20-20 with two minutes left, Falcon quarterback Tom LaBeau engineered a T D drive to assure Catholic Central of another win. The brilliant passing and running of Tom LaBeau led the Falcons easily by the last opponents by scores of 27-0, 59-l2, and 49-7 over Hillsdale, Onsted, and Bedford respectively to assure the '59 Falcons of an undefeated season, their high state ranking, and a league championship.
