A true home is the basic institution of society. Without the home, life would be an impersonal journey in a friendless land. Liteoriginates and is perpetuated in the home. In Monroe too, as anywhere else, the home has always held its place of im- portance. The early French settlers had homes and real homes they were. These settlers believed in having large families with foundations ot high ideals and standards of morality and integrity. Relatives had the warmest of ties and their hospitality was genuine. Their homes radiated love and peace throughout the whole area. It is true that these families suffered many hard- ships but they merely served to draw them closer together. Parents of tanorrow would do well to remember these hardy French settlers and to follow their example. We must realize that the family is a unit and that units work in coordination and harmony. So too, families should do things together, parents and children bound together by chains of love and affection. This is a true home.
