ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH In 1914 the early families of the Palm Bay Community built this little church with their own hands and their tools and the long straight cypress timbers of the native woods And when the carpenter men had finished, the people decorated their church with greens and flowers, and they prepared the altar with homewashed cloths for their worship, and they named their church Saint Joseph’s recalling another carpenter man of long ago For decades the people walked through these doors for their daily worship, for the christenings, the joyous marriages of their children, and the visits to the peaceful little wooden church And, when each in turn was called, the others bore their dead through these doors and down the path to the resting place.
