DEDICATIGN A great man walked into our lives and with him he brought courage a.nd dedication, This man was John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Four years ago whenhe walked through the doors of Central Catholic, he became a part of us, We identified ourselves with his youthful vigah because we too are young and have that fresh, bright, optimistic outlook which President Ken- nedy possessed. Not only did we regard him as the guardian of our freedom but also as the symbol and the hope of that freedom. Some said we were prejudiced because Kennedy was a Catholic. True, this enhanced his worth in our eyes but we were not swayed by this fact. We, as did all America, liked John F, Kennedy for what he was--an honorable man dedicated to his country's welfare. At his death, we grieved, we shed tears, we felt a great loss, we joined our fellow students in silent tribute to him on the day of his death, But then we saw that in dying john Kennedy strengthened and re-emphasized the bequest he gave to us . Now we are ready and more willing to fight, and perhaps to die, for freedom, for peace. l-lis death channeled our youthful ac- tivity toward better ends . Kennedy's martyrdom showed us the truth of the American ideal, and this truth shall make us free.
