Into whatever field we may venture, whether it be science, education, business, religion, or housewife, the train- ing received during the high school years will forever shadow our future success. We trust that these standards instilled into our minds now will endure throughout our lives to aid us in becoming good and useful Ameri- can citizens and in attaining our final goal, eternal happiness united with God in heaven. The New Testament increases class interest as it is full of the sacrifice and perseverance of the early Christians. The Religious training we receive in school is the most important part of our lives It prepares us to face the problems of the world with prudence and honesty for the loxe of Almighty God It binds us in a close relationship with our fellowman fellow worker em ployer or friend Ideal citizens are those who obey Gods laws As we take our place in the material world of today we must be ready to cope with numerous difficulties There will be people who will try to make us believe that there 15 no God and that our Church IS senseless The faculty foreseeing all the dangers we will encounter strive to gulde us on the right path by giving proofs of our God and Hrs Church jack Haughn and Jean Hatke light the candles of the Advent wreath in their religion class The circle of the wreath represents the everlasting The Advent wreath bears four candles Often three of the candles are purple signifying the three penitential Sundays The fourth candle is a pink one for the third Sunday in Advent . XX'ork! XXf'ork! As the final deadline creeps closer and closer. the staff assistants find more and more work to be done. The leisure time of the staff members is cut down to an all year low, since the Lance is to be sent in for publication in only one week! It is not unusual to See ambitious Lance members working on the last minute details of the book on Saturday and Sunday as well as after school lt was really .1 tremendous effort that these few students put forth to compose a yearbook that our school can be proud of. It takes end, less hours of concentrated work to compile only several pages. Cooperation is vital in this diffi- cult assembly of the Lance The members of the staff contributed much of their leisure time to its completion, and all they ask in return is a smile showing approval of the 1960 Lance!
