wipe iilrntur About this time a special meeting of the Athletic Association was called for the purpose of electing cheer leaders since the next game was at home and we needed someone to lead in the cheering The election re sulted as follows Paul Farber Cenevne Maloney and Mary Shaw It was decided at this meeting to change baseball to track as track was more of a High School sport than baseball Fourth Game Brockwayvllle came to DuBois for the purpose of getting revenge but were sadly d1SappOlHl16d when they met the S C H S on the local field By the zealous work of the whole team desiring to show their skill to local fans came off the field Wlth a 32 0 victory Through the earnest work of the cheer leaders the team was loyally supported by a large dele- gatlon of rooters from the whole school Fifth Game On arriving on the gridiron at Wlnburne Cooper Twsp the local boys were greatly surprised to see a team greatly outweighmg them on the field ready to do battle This team contammg two or three 1nel1g1ble men who had played professional football the local boys refused to play with them They finally consented to take these men off the field and the game began about 4 P M The first half featured by the holdlng of the heavy team on the one yard l1ne ended with a 0 0 score The second halt opened with a long pass by the opposing team which brought the ball over the goal and succeeding in the kick made the score 7 0 In the thlrd quarter aided by a 20 yd penaltv for Coach Shalala 3,SSlStlllg an 1n1u1ed man off the field and the unfalr decisions of the referee they succeeded in making another touchdown whlch made the score 14-0 Thus the game ended Sixth Game On a twelve hour notice the Manager secured a game with the strong Johnsonburg team Having very l1ttle practice expecting an open date team The teams were yery evenly matched as can be seen by the close scole The first half ended with the score 0 0 In the third quarter the local team succeeded in reach1ng the 3 vard l1ne and after two unsuccessful attempts to push the ball past the goal It was decided to drop kick lt B5 the galhant work of Captain McCall1an the ball was successfully kicked be tween the goal posts making the scole 3 0 Johnsonburg recelved and took the ball to the 17 yard line By a penalty for coaching from the side lines claimed unfair by the local team the ball was brought to the one yard 'ine After three down thex succeeded in pushing the ball about one yard over the l1ne making the gain about two yards ln four downs At a council of the ofliclals and the coaches it was found that the penalty should have been one half the distance and as Johnsonburg had only gained two yards in four downs the game was gn en to S C H S by the scole of '3 0 Nesenth Game A meeting vsas called the evening before the game of the next day which was to be on the local field at which talks were given by Mr Gleason Mr Mack and var ious students for the encouragement of a large turnout at the game Three o clock the next day saw a large de'egat1on of rootels on the SId9llll9S together with tvso teams on the field consisting of the S C H S wx th thc strong Pal s Creek as opponents Agaln the local lads showed ' 81 - , .
