Uhr illlmtur align Ufangleh fdlclegrzrxn HAT a Joy It was to know that our last lesson was fimshed and our summer vacatlon was about to begm One could see the glrls of the Academy gathered 1n groups here and there plannlng how they should spend thexr vacatlon and each 1nv1t1ng the other to spend a few days at her home I was employed at that tlme 1n packmg my trunk and was not bother1ng myself wlth what they were talkmg about for I had already planned to spend my holldays w1th my room mate Mary Whlle I was thus engaged Mary entered and asked me to send a telegram to her brother requestmg h1m to meet us at the hotel and suggested that I slgn my own name Im sure he ll understand that It IS from me So com plylng w1th her request I went to obtam the Slsters permlssxon Thls bemg granted I hurrled to the telegraph office and scr1bbled a message to Mary s brother which read Please meet me and Marry at the Annex at two oclock Rush that I sald to the operator who glanced over the message and grmned Certalnly he Sald thls sort of a message always goes rush and I W1Sh you luck Hls last words puzzled me why dld he w1sh me luck? Walklng back to the Academy I happened to thmk of the mlstake that the grammatlcal error would not be notlced Upon leachlng the Aca demy I forgot eyerythlng save the final p1 epalatlons for my vacatlon I helped Mary wlth her packlng and ln a short tlme we were 1n the tram After tiresome hours of rldlng we at last reached our destlnatlon and hurrled to the Annex Hotel expectlng to meet Ted but there was no slght of hlm Thlnklng he had not recelved the message ln tlme we de clded to start out to the house We soon reached the Boyer s home whlch was C81 talnly a beautlful resldence There was Mary s mother w1th a glad smlle of welcome for us both Ted was also there but what was wrong w1th h1m'7 He scarcely greeted us and flom the first I began to dlsllke hlm and really thought I would not enjoy myself 1n h1s dlsagreeable company Some days later whlle I was a one 1n the hbrary looklng over the splendld collectlon of books 'led came ln he wore a sad or rather a puzzled look I was very sorry to dlsappomt you the other day but what you re quested of me 1n youl telegram IS qulte 1mpOSSlbl6 for I W1Sh to study and furthermore more I am too voung I vsas nearly petrlfled wlth amaze ment What could he mean What was he too young for who was hlnd S2 l 7 YK .
