'ITILQTIC I f 2 'f X 1111 T Cathermes Hlgh School Varslty Basketball team represents one of the fastest teams of any Cathohc School 1n Pennsylvama Th1s team under the careful coachmg of the Rev Father O Connel for mer Notre Dame star experlenced one of the most successful season 1n the h1story of Athletlcs of th1s school Although our schedule was not complete m the games that were played we proved to have a team of great ab1l1ty Johnson was chosen captaln to fill the vacancy created by Maloney former star and captaln of 22 the followlng men were chosen to represent th1s school ln the cage R0kOSk1 forward Rlddle for ward Sutter center Johnson guard McHugh guard McCall1on for ward Gleason guard Wlth the commg of next season the varslty w1ll be wlthout the ser VICES of five letter men Four members of the team graduate and one w1ll move at the end of the present year However we wlll have for next year R0kOSk1 who has starred at h1s forward p0Slt10H for the last three years McCall1on who has shown remarkable form at forward posltlon th1s season and Green star center of the Freshman Flxe Wlth th1s trlo we have one of the best scol 1ng outfits ln th1s sectlon and vull no doubt be able to uphold the great name that th1s school has gamed ln the athletlc world Freshman Athletzts Our school boasts of hawlng the finest F1 eshman team that St Cathe1 mes ever produced and whlch has prox en 1tS rlght to clalm the Champlon shlp of western Penna They ach1eved a wonderful recomd of wmnmg ten games and los1ng but two They hate scored twlce as many polnts as thelr opponents who were always of the highest class The Freshman opened the season wlth a well earned xlctory over the fast Great Lake Club now known as the J O Club by the scoxe of 21 17 We were then defeated at Punxv bv the Punxv Colleglans whom we IH sweet revenge defeated at the K of C to the tune of 37 4 G1 een and Johnson by thelr all around pla51ng were easlly the stars of the game We were agaln defeated bv the D H S Freshman team, but came back stlong and defeat Ulf?
