General scientific beliefs are re- viewed in Physical Science. Insect and animal dissections are per- formed in Biology. Chemistry includes experiments of many kinds and chemical formulations. Last but not least, Physics is available for the more advanced scientific student. âI have here, the identical ingredients of what made that glop we had for dinner today . . .1 think.â âThis stuff had better not burn a hole In my hand.â Oh no! I always get these fainting spells at test time!â But the grasshopper Isn't a mammal, Dan. Let's have a toast to all Chemistry students who don't know what they're doing. 54 C ⏠H U N I C A T I ⏠N S Lois certainly has a way with words. Eight classes, either entirely new or offered again after a couple years lapse, have been added to the Communications department. They are: Reading Comprehension, Myth- ology, Adolescent Literature, Dramatic Literature, Science Fiction, Mass Media, English Drama and Literature, and The Hero. âMr. Spate's class is so funny! I donât know how Iâm going to control myself!!â Well, theyâre definitately not Donny and Marie. Have you ever seen a more enthusiastic bunch? âKrazy Kreikemeier here with more of your favorite music on KRAPâ 55 _ m K . _ V. MATH Mathematical questions and theories were once again put to the minds of those participating in the wide range of math courses this year. From General Math to Calculus, the students had a chance to satisfy their numerical interests. Along with the regular classes, a new addition was made to this department Basic Algebra. With the invaluable help of our math geniuses, we're certain to project into the future, many successful math prospects. âShe couldnât have picked a smarter kid to tackle this problem.â âSince Sr. Celesta couldn't make it today, guess who's going to teach your Algebra class?â Is there an answer page in the back of this book? Mr. Mendlik gives his advice. ELSINESX A busy clatter of typewriter keys greets anyone walking into Typing class. Soft clicks of calculators can be heard from Accounting class. Other business courses include Office Practice and Buisiness Law. Arenât debtors and debitors the same thing? Jane, in deep concentration over her typing predicament: what to do with a footnote that wonât fit on the paper. I wonder what Mr. Brown would do If I just skipped that whole middle paragraph? ACTS CCATTT Skills and patience are the key ingredients to any art project, and C.C.âs Arts and Crafts creators definitely have both. The students have a wide field to choose from: painting, drawing, and crafts â which Include the newest additions, baskettry and stitchery. Many of their creations were displayed at a district art show. Just think! My very own line of breakable toys. I'll be rich and famous. Betcha I finish first!â INDUSTRIAL ALTS Prospects of the industrial world are developed in the Industrial Arts classes held up at WPHS. The fields of woods, drafting, and auto mechanics are offered to accomodate these students in their pursue of industrial careers. An essential in any industrial project is accurate measurement. Okay, if youâre so smart, you figure out how to get these fingerprints off the glass panes. Donât get the wrong idea. Just because I have an apron on and look like Iâm ironing, Iâm not really pursuing a career as a housewife. A world of different words, customs, dress, and mannerisms is explored by those students Interested In Spanish. Each year this class draws a sizeable num- ber of students who desire the ability to master a language other than English. However, know- ledge of English and its grammatical structure is required in order to interpret Spanish. Thanks to the priceless instruction of Mrs. Knobbe, these stu- dents can achieve their goals. There never was a more eager- looking bunch of students. 60 âI never was very good at charades, but doing them in Spanish is the pits!â What the heck are âpapas tritasâ?â What do you want, you ugly duck? A barrage of mixed emotions hit the Religion department as a result of the optional retreats becoming mandatory for all class levels this year. Despite opposition at first, the retreats proceeded with success and touched the lives of the students. Donât just stand there, Tobey! Help the poor guy with his coat! Religion IV: An extraordinary combination of religion, world history and basic complaints. ffA Those in FFA include: Donald Gentrup, David Ulrich, Alan Guenther, Norman Guenther, Robert Spenner, Steve Weller, Ron Gentrup, Randy Hagedorn, Jerome Krelkemeier, Robert Popken, Jerry Prinz, Ken Wordekemper, Neal Bracht, Rick Guenther, Pat Meister, Mary Schlautman, Keith Dourneman, Marvin Gentrup, Dean Neesen, Randy Rolf, Keith Stieren, Tim Weiler, Gene Wordekemper, Leon Gentrup, Tony Goeden, Kevin Kaup, Mary Meister, Keith Kreikemeier, Gary Rolf, Kevin Schlautman, Rodney Ruskamp, Mark Aschoff, Gerald Gentrup, Dennis Peitzmeier, Lawrence Petersen, Tim Reesen, Ronald Stieren and Duane Wordekemper. 62 HEALTH P.E âWhere did it go???M âThis time I'll try tor the bowling pins.â âIn a couple of years, I'll have the Boston Marathon all wrapped up! Like last year, C.C.âs P.E. classes were conducted in co-ed fashion. The results were once again satisfactory, which could mean their continuance in the future. 63 I ⏠C I A L âYou say those answers werenât scribbled In your book before? Now, Mary, do you really expect me to believe that? Looks like Keith might have found another unsuspecting victim for his usual pranks. Studies of the past and researching the present and future make up Social Studies. Current problems and past predicaments are some of the aspects of the different histories, sociology, and governmental classes.
