IKINGS-a name for the proud, strong, and courageous . . . Twenty-two years ago, students of Central Catholic High School adopted this name, because it portrayed the innate characteristics of the Vikings: knowledge, zeal, and love of a challenge Even as the ships of our predecessors were guided by the black raven on their flag of gold, our school life is guided by the Holy Spirit, Dove of Wisdom, emblazoned on our school seal An ardor for adventure marks the Vikinffs of both yesterday and today 0nly the Goal is different Yesterday s Vikings sought the New World, today s Vikings seek the Promised World Heaven From all sections of the northland these hold men came to meet the demands of the open sea These early explorers had no other mcentlve but love of a challenge We, as students of Centlal Catholic, come from many different com munmes to accept the opportunities of religion, knowledge, and recre ation to prepare us to meet the demands of the working world Our incentive is love of God Thus pi ovmg that we not only hear, hut deserve, the name of Vikings The Viking Splflt lives on in the students of Central CHtllO1lC -.f I,-,,A -lf., --lr., L 'iv'
