publication, the official organ and strongest voice of the Alumni, not only keeps members abreast of events within. the organization, but also relates the ventures and whereabouts of their former classmates. Favorable comments about the paper have poured in from interested readers every- where. A The founding of the HALUMNUSH was not the only step taken in this direction. A big reunion was held during the Christmas holidays, enab- ling many of the boys who were home for the holidays to renew old school ties. In view of the fact that the school Basketball and Hockey teams enjoyed successful seasons, plans were made by the Alumni to recognize the fine work of the two squads. The boys were presented with suitable emblems for their respective sports at a special Sports-Nite dance. The members of the alumni received Communion in a body at St. Mary's Church on May 18, and immediately afterwards the Annual Com- munion Breakfast was held in the school cafeteria. LOOKING AHEAD At the present time the Alumni is busy formulating plans for the most important undertaking in its history- its part in the school drive for the new Auditorium. The members have already demonstrated their enthus- iasm by voting to finance an athletic room in the new building. This room will be dedicated to perpetuate the memory of those members of the Alumni who were killed in Xvorld VVar 2. Genital S H, E Brother Owen I Jfeumni The year of 1946 was an iinportant year of reorganization all over the World. The cessation of hostilities necessitated a change in practically every society in the country, from the Congress of the United States right down to the Alumni Association of Central Catholic. Prior to 1946 the Alumni was a victhn of circumstances. The first graduation classes had hardly started the 'ball rolling when the outbreak of war prompted the en- listment of almost every member. Handicapped in such a manner during the war years, the Alumni was indeed looking forward to the day when it would be able to fulfill its committments without interference. That day has arrived! Now the Alumni is a living and growing body, 800 strong, that is gradually mounting instature here at Central. It has emerged from its cocoon and is busy spinning the web of a solid and unimpeach- able foundation. The business meetings, held every month, have seen each class well rep- resented. The practice of inviting a guest speaker to every meeting was an innovation that increased in popularity as the year progressed. The capacity for work shown by the members spurred the Alumni on to the speedy and successful accomplishment of all their undertakings. T ACTIVITIES First on the year's agenda was a series of dances held in the school cafe- teria. The wholehearted cooperation and faithtul attendance of the Cen- tral students and their friends made these affairs a huge social success. Since most of the members are attending school in widely scattered places there remained the problem of informing them of all the current plans and activities. This task emphasized the great need for a bulletin or paper and lcd to the establishment of the ALUMNUS.,' This monthly
