7947 The Central Catholic hockey team of 1947 had the niosbisuccessful sea- son in the scl1ool's history. Despite prolonged periods offunfavorable ice conditions, the team played eleven games. They won eight, lost two and tied one. The team was ably captained by goalie Gene Champagne. l-Iis scored-upon record is 1.27 goals per game. The outstanding player was defenseman Claude St. Laurent, whose brilliant Work was a vital factor in the teamis success. The other defenseman, Jack Connors also played a steady game. These two played practically every minute of the season, being relieved but a few minutes over the entire schedule. The leader in goals scored was I-Ierb Gallant, center, with eight. This player, Joe Sexton, captain-elect Louis Gleason and Danny Donovan were tied for high scor- ing honors With ten points each. The manager was Tim Connors '50. Returning for the 1948 season are captain-elect Louis Gleason, Bill Durkin, Elphege Beaulieu, Roland Beaudoin, Will.ia11i Marquis, John Marcinkevich, Arthur Hamel, James McNamara, George Laliose, Paul Morneau and Herb Gallant.
