You have been taught how to be Christo- phers-Christ-bearers. In the classroom, in social life, in extracurricular activities, at home and in the Catholic action you BRO, HENRY HINGKANIP Principal Sm-iology practice at parish activities, you have ex- hibited this spirit. Our hope and prayer is that you cherish and practice this Marian spirit in your adult life. In this Way you can show your gratitude for the character training and personality development given you by your pastors, your school, and your home. Their aim has been the same, to make of you scholars and saints. They have ful- filled their responsibility to you, now you, as Christophers of your generation must accept the challenge of cherishing and per- petuating your Christian heritage. Opening the retreat on September 30 with Mass was Father Skrobacki. The retreat lasted two days and concluded with Mass, Benediction, and The Act of Consecration on the mo rning of October Z. Retreatmaster for Juniors and Seniors was Father Brand, while F re s hman and Sophomores benefited from the instructions of Father Young. There were daily opportunities for Spiritual Counsel,Confession, and Communion. As the retreat ended, all stu- dents looked forward toa more rewarding school year. . . . The Buttons showed their stuff by defeating them 25 to O. Central scored7 in the first quarter and 6 pts. in each of the following. Central's winning streak was broken by Jesuit High at Dallas. Fans who made the trip on a specialchartered train were a disappointed group heading homeward. The mournful score was Z0 to 14. Jesuit did not Block that Kick , as Carlos Cazares shows how it should be done. Paul Britton finding a hole goes for good yardage. Burbank suffered a 19 to O defeat under the Buttons at Edison Field. The lst, 3rd, and 4th quarters were score less. Fast ground work and good blocking assured Central's victory over Corpus Christi with a Z1-0 lead in the first quarter. A wide end run by Carlos Cazares finished at the goal line 55 yds. away. Carlos scored 16 of ou r 28 points in this game. According to the expression revealed on the faces of Varsity coaches, Brothers M a rtin McMurtrey and John Haug, Central must have fo rgotton how to Hold That Line. Brothers Martin and John also coached the A team. Central lost to San Antonio T e ch 14 to 7 on Oct. 31 at Alamo Stadium. After the Buttons had tied the score 7 to 7 in the Znd quarter, Tech retaliated with another 7 pts. in the 4th. Somebody's hand pulls down a Tech player, as Paul Britton adds the finishing touches.
