P r I I I l I TO THE GRADUATES . Dear Graduates: After four years of waiting for your gradua- tion, you may feel disappointed at this year's anti- climatic end. But epidemics are no respectors of persons or plans, and there is little use in regretting what has to be. Moreover, we all know well that the real treasures of your school years-the relig- ious, moral and intellectual training in classes and activities, the friendships, the memories-these you have already made so much a part of yourself, that now you can never lose them. You Central graduates of T946 are part of the tradition of Catholic education that goes back through the ages to Christ. Always remember that. You have received the fruits of twenty centuries of Christian truth and teaching. It is a great gift you have received, and with it, a great responsibility. For now you are yourselves the bearers of that tradition. Your duty it is, and your high privilege as well, to, live the Faith you have been taught, in the way that has made that Faith the one bright hope of a darkened world. We, the Brothers of Central Catholic High School, are confident that you will carry on the tradition we have worked to give to you. Sincerely yours in J. M. J. Bro. Louis J. Scherer, S.M. The increased enrollment provided a much larger field of competition in the Tennis Tourney. Daily eliminations gradually decreased the size of the viewing group. Casanova emerged victoriously, defeating Howard in a tight, drawn-out play off. In the Bexar County Junior Tennis Tournament Central's teams took four of the eight first places. These firsts included victories in the Midget singles, B doubles, B singles and C doubles. A second place was registered in the A doubles. Begun tentatively last year, the track team entered this spring in several meets, and a number of young runners, iumpers and weight-tossers show un- deniable promise. Outstanding performers in varsity competition were polevaulter Johnny Watts, miler Billee Howard, and 440-runner Joe Tillotson. Noteworthy among minor squad members were Bernie Bernall and Joe Wilson in the high iump, Frank Sereno, Fred Allnoch and Reuben Klar in the dashes, Frankie Frank in the shot-put and Bob Rodgers in the pole-vaults. Bro. Theodore Szydlowski coached both varsity and minor teams.
