C.C. celebrated its first Irish Weekend, March 16-18. But Irish Weekend really began the week before with the clubs and classes putting together their different plans and booths. One girl from each class was nominated for the Irish Court on the basis of her school spirit and enthusiasm. Members of the court included senior Mary Anne Arnold, junior Mary Harber, sophomore Larene Dilley, and freshman Judy Rondot. Friday night, junior Mary Harber was crowned queen to reign over the Irish Weekend. Two bands. General George and the Protestors for Peace, pro- vided the music for the dance which was held in C.C. ' s gym from 8-12. Saturday morning was spent decorating and setting up booths for the carnival. Booths included ring toss, basketball throw, penny pitch, a cake walk, and a jail. Food booths included baked goods, cotton candy, hot dogs, and tacos. There were two spook houses, one sponsored by the freshman class and the other by the Echo Staff. The senior booth was the biggest attraction. It was a pie throwing booth and the targets were four of our favorite male teachers. The carnival lasted from 4-10 in the gym. Sunday evening a coffee house was held in the Clinton Room from 7-10. Students and outside enter- tainers played. Among the performers were C.C. ' s Paula Taylor on the guitar, and Larry Budenz and his ' magic microphone. ' Also in the program were Father Forest and the Trees from Luers, Furg, and Ziggy- All proceeds from the weekend went to support the band ' s trip to Europe, the Shamrock, and the Echo. CANDY CROWNED AT 9WEETHEART BALL This year the theme of the Valentine Dance was the Sweetheart Ball. The dance was held in the Clinton Room on February 13, from 8:00 to 11:00 and was sponsored by the music department. For the first time this dance was open to all classes, and it was the biggest turnout ever. The C.C. Dance Band provided the music, and among their selections were the polka and the bunny hop. Refreshments were served by the sophomores, and the oand worked on the decorations. The main event of the evening was the crowning of the queen. Candy Creason. Other members of the court were seniors, Jana Rauch and Jeanne Shaffer, end juniors, Janet Sample and Kitty Houser.
