IRI9H 9PIRIT BRINGS CC PEP SESSIONS TOGETHER We ' re the Mighty Irish! Onward CC. Song of India. Raise the flag, for ole CC. . . .! Add a few skits, a spirited student body, and The Pit, and you ' ve got an Irish pep session. Under the direction of Dole Cunningham, the pep ses- sions came to life. Inspirational speeches aroused the CC. students. Father Reginald told all to be proud to be from the Inner City. Coach Lasko ' s arousing speech telling us to get revenge from Dwenger because they tried to close us last year. Let ' s close them tonight! Dan ' s Dangerous Dames (alios, the mighty Senior Women), challenged the Jiving Juniors in the annual Powder Puff game at the Home- coming bonfire. And Tom Bierman gave a touching speech in which he apologized for the short-comings of the football team and promised better results in future games. Becky Banasiak led the skits for the pep sessions. Her poor, humble monk from Northrop was one of the high- lights at all pep sessions. Some of the monk ' s petitions: Kevin Carroll, full of spirits; Tony Quinn, most patient; All you cute janitors and Whitey; and Dean of Discipline, Tower of Strength, have mercy on us. In the Junior skit, they sang Oh Irish, won ' t you give us a victory tonight. ' Twos the night of the Wayne game, .... the Christmas skit brought out a new basketball team and a rookie coach as Tony Avila portrayed Coach Craft. All-in-all, it was a pretty good year for pep sessions — from the enthusiastic band to the decorated halls. In future years, we can look back and remember the spirited hours and excitement in The Pit. Top — The Seniors, decked out in their jeans, await the start of their lost pep session. Left — Clancy leods all at the Homecoming bon- fire. Above — Maureen Gerardot rides ocross the stoge on her tricycle at the chootic Junior pep session. 13

WE ' RE OFF . . . TO EUROPE The Golden Shamrock Marching Bond is off to Europe! Due to their appearance and performance, they were offered a chance to compete in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Germany, August 13-27. This year, under the direction of Joseph Woods, who has been the band director at C.C. for the past 26 years, our band won second place in a marching contest and gained a first place award for uniform oppearence. The twirlers placed second in their division. During the summer, the C.C.H.S. Band went to camp and learned new instrumental and marching techniques. These skills were used in parades, half- time performances, pep sessions, concerts, and con- tests. The majorettes attended a twirling camp in New Haven, and Connie Broun attended a drum major camp at Smith Walbridge. Above — Mayor Ivan Lebamoff lights the torch to kick off the Olympic drive as bond director Joseph Woods looks on. Below — The Golden Shamrock Marching Band competes in a marching contest at North.
