Track Team To complete the athletic pro- gram of the year, track finds its place near the end of the school year. Through the efforts of Coach Scott, track at Central Catholic is becoming a bigger threat to our opponents every year. Each year brings a more promising and ex- perienced squad. Together with the spring track team, comes the cross-country track team, which takes place in the fall. A cross-country track team consists of boys who can run a two-mile race in due time through open country. Although it is still young at C.C., it is also becoming an ever increasing popular sport. Bob Pran ser L. Ntlaletic Monogram Yllinnef-A Few of us realize how much work and time is given after school hours by these boys who bring so much honor and glory, not only to themselves, but also to our school. The outstanding seniors whom C.C. will lose in this year,s gradu- ation class are: Tom Jehl, Jim Beck, Terry Logan, Sam Talarico, Jim Purviance, and Jack Mac- Bride. Much of the credit for de- veloping such fine team spirit be- longs to our coaches who have spent their time and patience di- recting our teams onward. Dick Harber Page 105 I TRACK TEAM Row I-G. Rue:-cle KaAlzet6a I Team Although not too impressive on the court this year, winning only 5 of 17 games, the Reserves are gaining valuable basketball ex- perience. It is no easy task to groom inexperienced players, hut Mr. Miller must be given due credit for the Work he has accom- plished. lt isnit the scores, neces- sarily, that indicate the calibre of the Reserves, but rather how well they will use this experience in future years. Included among the candidates for next year's varsity squad will be: Norman Hipskind, a promising Freshmang Don Lor- raine, and Tom Roy to mention a few. fack Leemhuis ?reAluman KaAlzet6all Team Many of these boys have the potentialities of clever varsity players. With a year or two of training to polish the rough spots they should make a great team. Some of the boys are more ad- vanced than the others, and have already played some games with the reserve team. The boys have entered into competition with those of their own calibre, and compiled a record of five wins and three losses. Ken Grote Page 104

Some of the activities for the year included: hikes to the Till farm, roller skating parties at Bellis rink, award parties, volleyball and basketball tournaments. The G.A.A. oper- ates on a point basis. the large HC being the goal each girl strives for. This monogram repre- sents a total of fifteen hundred points. As each class of girl graduates leaves C.C. their memories of school days may be forgotten. but the G.A.A. will long be remembered. Jeanne Strebig GAA. MONOGRAM WINNERS Seated-,loan Paris.
