Although not too consistent as winners, the Irish could never be counted out in any game because they refused to just Ulay down and play deadn. They played their hearts out in every game and wouldnit concede a thing to any team regardless of su- perior odds. Despite a poor beginning in which they won only 3 in 11 starts, the purple refused to fold. They came back strong in the next 6 games winning five. During the regular campaign, including the Holiday Tourney, the Irish won 9 of 20 games for a near 5070 average. One of the high lights on the seasonls card was an overtime thriller with Huntertown, won by CC., 40-38. The feature attraction of this game was an individual scoring duel between ,lim Buchanan of Hunter- town and our own Jim Purviance. Throughout the evening Purviance flipped 26 points through the hoop, including eight in a row. Altogether he hit twelve for seventeen. Although handicapped by lack of height, the players more than made up for it by their playing ability and will to win. Jack Leemhu is Page 102 fv,..--W N. -.-.f ... .. as . . 1:inm:zam,.m,sn.c.a.
