A. A. members were also busy. Their slogan was to help win the war by keeping physically fit. just from looking at the happy, fun loving girls full of vitality, no one could guess that such a serious motive was behind their activities. The membership this year was increased to approximately 200 girls under the able guid- ance of Miss Julia Heighway and Sister Marie Denise. i The first big event of the year was the volleyball tournament held in November. The seniors defeating the juniors. Wfednesday night befgore Thanksgiving, Bell's Rink was the scene of a gay, friendly G. A. A. skating party, and on Friday after Thanksgiving, a clear, brisk November day, 75 girls donned Page EPS

The winning team in the girls' intramural tournament was that of Sister Margaret Agnes' Room, 304. Kathleen Saxton and Ritt Vonderhaar, captain, were high scorers dur- ing the whole season through their own eiforts and the support of their fellow play- ers: Helen Vonderhaar, Genevieve Dehner, Juanita Hammen, Lois Kintz and Norma Freiburger. Many a noon the gymnasium was packed with enthusiastic C.C.-ers witnessing these human dynamoes in action. What a thrill to see those daring long shots skim through the net without even touching the rim! How wild the crowd went when the ball flew back and forth in well-practiced fashion from player to player to be tossed with agility and ease into the basket. So, Room 304. let us congratulate you on your fine display of ability and sportmanship and thank you for the thrilling entertain- ment you have provided us with in the course of the year. hiking clothes, and began their hike to the Policeman's Country Club. To the many freshmen it was a new and exciting event but to the seniors it was an event always looked forward to and long to be remembered. At twilight, footsore and weary, they arrived home ready for a good night's sleep with the songs, laughter, and jokes of the day still ringing in their ears. The association is operated on a point basis for which certain insignia are given and it is only through El very active participation in sports that these insignia are gained.
