As they sat in the loft ot' Ned lirowns barn around the impro- vised stove that was roaring- merrily they made a brave picture. Twelve ens thnsiastie faces with clean-ent features 1-etleeted almost as many emotions. Home were smiling and some wore a frown as they labored over a nefarious plot to ruin the peace of mind ot' the innocent villagersg others had a look of amused contempt as they pointed out the flaws in their neighbor 's plan.
