BISHOP My dear graduates of 1965: Since the time you were sophomores at Yakima Central Catholic High School, I have spent two months of each year at the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council. The great general lessonl learned there is that while you and I share membership in a vast Church, we form that same Church in our own neighborhood. Individually and collectively we are the Church. We are , in fact, the Body of Christ. It is very personal to us in our parish and among the people with whom we live. Your four years at Yakima Central Catholic have had for their purpose to make you betterwitnesses to your membership in the Catholic Church. You were given a commission to be that kind of witness when you received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was not a passing Sacrament. It would take on a new meaning for you at graduation from high school and every day thereafter. No matter what your vocation may be in life, Yakima Central Catholic High School has given youa vision of the vastness of the Catholic Church and at the same time an appreciation of how personal the Church is to you. lt is an intimate part of your life. May the schooling which is represented by your graduation make you better qualified to be commissioned representatives of the Catholic Church wher- ever you may live in the future. And may your Alma Mater of the Holy Family be with you every step of your life. Cordially yours, f'i 7'9 W f O Rev. Joseph P. Dougherty Bishop of Yakima
