X ,fri ll 1 , Fifty years ago Central Catholic High School was a conglomerate of 700 students scattered in one permanent building at 3233 Page Street and seven portable classrooms on land borrowed from St. lVlary's and St. Aquinas parishes. Already plans were being discussed which would lead to the purchase of the land on which the present building was erected. At that time it was the only Catholic high school in Toledo. SXTRANSPORTATION Today, fifty years later, though other Catholic secondary schools have arrived on the scene, Central can still lay claim to its position as the only centrally located Catholic high school in Toledo. Situated in the inner city community Central is still where the action is. Hundreds of students con- verge from all over the metro- politan area to become part of a tradition of excellence in athletics. in the arts and in academics, all in an atmo- sphere of Christian discipline. . 1 , , ' -I l fir l 1 ., ffym -' ' J., ..2 , Some students are dropped oft by parents on the way to work: others drive, often in car pools with friends, a practice encouraged by the energy crisis and scarce parking spots.
