Dual-Crowning, Dance Shaller Irish Tradition Royalty Reigns At '69 Homecoming Homecoming 1968-69 witnessed for the first time an intermingling of old and new traditions. An exciting and emotion-filled week for the five candidates and their managers reached its climax on October 24 at Rogers Stadium when spirited varsity cheerleader Ruth Konczal was chosen by the student body as Central's new Queen, succeeding retiring Janice Hite. A new tradition was established on October 25 as the first Homecoming Dance, Autumn Fantasy, was held at the Lucas County Rec- reation Center. The Rec Center's Hall of Fame was the scene as two of the football tri-cap- tains, William Montrie and Michael Scannell, recrowned Queen Ruth. Later, escorted by manager Michael McNamee she led a waltz with her attendants and their escorts joining in. Gracing the royal court were Carolyn Bor- gess, Colleen Corrigan, Lynn Lanzinger, and Ann McCarty escorted by Joseph Szenderski, Michael Massa, Richard Perz, and Eugene Nowak, respectively. Escorted by their managers, the members of the royal court attend the first Homecoming Dance.
